There and Back Again. . .

Healthy enough to name: Olivia
The title of this post is theft. . . from Bilbo Baggins of hobbit fame. Still. It's what we did. The three of us traveled to Cleveland Ohio for a Memorial Service for John's Mom. The six siblings were all there, as scattered to the far ends of the country as they are. It was a great trip. For now, all are healthy and living large. We had a wonderful time.

It was even greater to return home to absolutely perfect temperatures (chill at night, warm but not hot during day), and sweet surprises. The first, perhaps favorite, is that the Cornus kousa looks terrific. She's a cultivar called "Greensleeves". When deciding on what to name her, John found that that the song, Greensleeves, was written about the time of William Shakespeare. Our familial Shakespeare expert rolled off a list of Shakespearian women, and I settled on Olivia; Desdemona, Ophelia and Juliet are just too tragic.

As for Olivia: "Olivia is a fictional character from William Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night, believed to have been written around 1600 or 1601. She is at the centre of the various plots, both the comedic and the romantic. She has various suitors." I especially like that last bit.

This post would not be complete without a nod to our trip. It was a two day drive each way for us, clocking in at about 13.5 hours. We generally like this kind of travel, with dog/human walks along the way, but it is harder on our bodies than it once was.

Lake Erie. Our lakes in Maine are big, but this one is Great.
